Correspondence reprinted in Hamilton's When I was a boy (Faber and Faber, London, 1939), pp 202, 299 and Listening for the drums (Faber and Faber, London, 1944), pp147, 151, comprising letter from Standish Prendergast Vereker, 4th Viscount Gort, congratulating Hamilton on his army examination, 17 Aug 1870; from Elizabeth Mary Vereker, Viscountess Gort, thanking Hamilton for a present of salmon, 1873; invitation to dine with the royal household at Osborne, Isle of Wight, 22 Aug 1881; from his brother Vereker Monteith Hamilton to their father Christian Monteith Hamilton, on Hamilton's promotion to captain, 21 Apr and 26 May 1882. With letter from his cousin John Hamilton, 3 Dec 1931, enclosing letter from Hamilton's grandfather John George Hamilton to his son Christian Monteith Hamilton, a student at Rugby School, 24 Aug 1829 (not published in his memoirs). 1 file
