Offprint of article, 'Our true policy in India-a rejoinder', (from The Fortnightly Review), by 'An Indian officer' [Hamilton], regarding the 'forward policy' in Afghanistan, proposing reinforcement of the British Army in India and a British alliance with Afghanistan, and rebutting an article by Colonel John Frederick Maurice in The Fortnightly Review of Feb 1889, in which Maurice had asserted that a potential Russian invasion of India through Afghanistan was unlikely, and which had advocated blocking Russian expansionism in continental Europe by the cooperation of British military forces with other European powers. 11pp
