Also testimonial from Captain Phillip G King RN, Commissioner managing the affairs of the Australia Agriculture Company in New South Wales, 3 May 1841, certifying Appleton's service in the establishment of the Australia Agricultural Company at Port Stephens, as Assistant Surgeon, Jan – May 1841; New South Wales Medical Board Certificate as legally qualified Medical Practioner, 9 Jun 1841; University of Aberdeen certificate (in Latin), 1850; certificate of instruction at the establishment of John Charles Thorrowgood, Totteridge, Herts, in classics, mathematics, and the usual branches of a liberal education, from Aug 1825-Jun 1832, 20 Feb 1850, and accompanying letter from Thorrowgood to Appleton, 20 Feb 1850; testimonial of Gilbert Blight recording Appleton's practise in Hackney, London, as a surgeon since 1842, 2 Apr 1850.
