King's College London Publications: Serials and Periodicals, 1836-2014. This class of ephemera contains 150 distinct titles of annual/termly periodical comprising newsletters and magazines about the College, its students and staff, illustrating its academic work and social life from the earliest years to the present day. Most series are incomplete and sometimes contain only single editions of predominantly recent titles. The main series of publications comprise long running College magazines such as King's College Review/Lucifer (1899-1966), of which there exist bound and duplicate sets, King's College London News (1981-1984), The King's College London Report (1993-2000), Comment (1984-2001) and the staff bulletin, Viewpoint (1973-1979) and Library staff magazine, Ex Libris (later retitled No Comment ) (1996-2001). They also include departmental and faculty periodicals and newsletters such as The Kingsman (1958-1978), which was one of several journals associated with the Theology Faculty, the War Studies Review (1994-1998), War Studies Journal (1995-1999) and Department of War Studies Diary (1993-1997), The Siphon , magazine of the Faculty of Science (1946-1968), the Nurses' League Journal (1926-2000), King's College School Magazine (1890-1903), King's College London Association newsletter, later retitled In Touch (1972-1999), Computer Unit newsletters (1967-1996) and the Ladies' Department Magazine (1896-1914). They also include support services and Trades Union magazines and newsletters including of the Library and NALGO, Development Office, Chaplaincy and Staff Development and Training, Students' Union and Rag magazines, most prominently, Magus (1974-1985). The collection contains a few examples of periodicals external to King's College, mainly concerned with the Higher Education sector, such as the Newsletter of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals (1995-1998) and relating to various aspects of the work of the University of London. Content is very broad and diverse, including events listings, College and departmental news, obituaries, sporting fixtures, society business and original articles, particularly in The King's Engineer (1922-1968) and Lucifer (1951-1966), whose distinctive ironical and experimental character was reflected in critical commentary on South Africa and Vietnam, pornography and censorship, examples of cutting edge poetry, alongside theatre reviews and original articles, drawings and caricatures including by Derek Jarman and the writer and broadcaster, Michael Bukht.

King's College London photographs and illustrations constitute an invaluable record of students, staff, College buildings and events from the opening of the College until the present day, 1829-2000. They consist of loose, framed and mounted, or album portrait photographs of a number of academic and non-academic staff, including Principals, Deans, College Secretaries and senior teaching staff such as Heads of Department of most departments and faculties, with some additional support staff such as porters, [1850-2000]; colour and black and white photographs of interior and exterior views of King's College London Old Building in the Strand, including entrances to King's in the Strand and Embankment, Great Hall, Main Entrance Hall, Engineering, Wheatstone and Biological Laboratories with equipment, anatomy dissecting rooms, departmental libraries, Common Rooms, Lecture Halls, King George III Museum, Council Room, individual floors of Old Building and floor plans, [1880-1980]; mainly black and white photographs and slides of the interior and exterior views of Halls of Residence including Halliday Hall, Lightfoot Hall and Wellington Hall, [1970-1990]; mainly black and white photographs and slides of sights around the Strand and King's College, including frontage of houses adjacent to the Strand entrance to King's, the Old Watch House, Somerset House, river Thames, St Clement Danes and St Mary-le-Strand churches, Westminster and Waterloo Bridges, aerial views of King's and surrounding buildings, [1890-1990]; photographs of Day Training College including laboratories, teaching and common rooms, [1917]; photographs, drawings and postcards of the College Chapel including organ, stained glass, altar, entrances and services, 1859-[1980]; photographs showing redevelopment at King's including post- World War Two repairs and extension to Wheatstone Laboratories into car park, various stages of the construction of the Strand Building, [1949-1972]; photographs of the College Library (Strand site) including the Skeat and Furnivall Library, showing issue desks and individual rooms, 1954-1987; photographs and drawings of other buildings connected to King's, principally the Hospital in Portugal Street, Macadam Building, Chelsea scenes such as Lightfoot Hall and Chelsea College, and Cornwall House, [1850-1980]; mainly photographs but also some drawings of events at King's, notably including a cartoon of the duel between the Duke of Wellington and the Earl of Winchilsea in Battersea Fields, 1829, visits by dignitaries including Prince Albert and Queen Elizabeth II, College outings, sporting events, inspections of troops, anniversary events, exhibition displays, dinner engagements, leaving parties, graduations, Liddell Hart Centre for Military Archives Annual Lectures, launch of new institutes and departments, portrait painting unveilings, with some Chelsea College events, 1829-2000; photographs of King's during World War Two, notably air raid preparations, students and staff, including during the relocation of King's to Bristol University, 1939-1943; group photographs of students and staff in various departments and faculties, mainly King's College for Women, Theology, Laws, Science and Arts, with some few cricket, football, rowing, hockey and other sports' teams, 1906-[1977]; student rags and events involving the College mascot, Reggie the Lion, [1920-1939]; roll of honour for World War One, with photographs of war memorial, 1914-1918; drawings and photographs of College seal, plaques and coats of arms; negatives of King's illustrations and photographs, with portraits, letters, cartoons, some staff and interior shots, 1929-1980

King's College London Lectures. This collection of ephemera contains printed matter relating to public and academic events in the College. It includes the texts of lectures and addresses including inaugural lectures by new staff, some of which date from the opening of the College, predominantly Theology and the Arts,1828-2009, sermons delivered at the opening of departments, the installation of the Dean or at memorial events, [1830]-2011, Gilbart Lectures on Banking, 1897-1994, other lectures and addresses ranging from the future of education in England, modern Greek poetry, or Asian languages, to the role of pure science in the development of industry, Commemoration Orations by distinguished speakers including HRH Prince Philip, Anniversary Lectures, Haldane Memorial Lectures and Liddell Hart Centre for Military Archives Annual Lectures, 1832-2014, Eric Symes Abbott Memorial Lectures on ethics and spirituality, 1986-1999; lecture notices including syllabuses, public lecture lists and some attendant correspondence, arranged by faculty or department or yearly/termly for public or general lectures, 1835-2012
