Correspondence, mostly congratulatory and social between Ismay and correspondents with surnames beginning with 'M' also including Lt Gen Sir George MacMunn, 1939 relating to his wish to contribute to the war effort, 1947 relating to the Indian Army; Lt Col John Robert Jermain MacNamara, 1941 expressing the opinion that weaknesses in home defence would make Britain unable to withstand an attempted invasion, criticism of the higher direction of the war, proposals for a 'flying tank' with replies from Ismay; Maj Desmond Morton, 1940 relating to Stanley Melbourne Bruce, High Commissioner for Australia in London and his attempt to attain assurances of Rt Hon Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill's support on political matters through Morton, Churchill's private secretary rather than through Ismay.
