Manuscript letters to the Secretary of King’s College London comprising undated certificates of students awarded the 1st and 2nd class Warneford scholarship (founded by Samuel Warneford in 1851 for students in the Medical Department) including William Alsept Richards and Samuel Lymas Herbert, who were awarded 1st class scholarships, 1863-1864; Evan Buchanan Baxter (Professor of Materia Medica and Therapeutics 1874-1885), John Curnow (Professor of Anatomy 1873-1896 and Professor of Clinical Medicine 1896-1902), Alexander Paul Fiddian, Alfred Henry Garrod (Professor of Comparative Anatomy 1874-1879), Arthur Fergusson McGill, (later Lecturer of Surgery at Yorkshire College, Leeds) and Henry Bland who were awarded 1st class scholarships, 1864-1865; Robert Wishart Lyell (later Assistant Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital) who was awarded a 1st class scholarship, 1866-1867; Alfred Armitage Kidger who was awarded the 2nd class scholarship,1866-1867; Joseph Numa Rat and William Francis Hazel who were awarded 1st class scholarships, 1867-1868; George Henry Batterbury and Ashley Gibbings (Professor of Dental Surgery, 1887-1889) who were awarded 1st class scholarships, 1869-1870; William John Henry Lush who was a awarded 2nd class scholarship, 1869-1870; George Stillingfleet Johnson (Demonstrator of Chemistry, 1884-1894) and Richard Frith Quinton who were awarded 1st class scholarships, 1870-1871.
