Scope and content

Pamphlets, leaflets and books on cookery and nutrition, 1911-1975, collected by Wilson Crowe, managing director of Easiwork kitchen cabinet and appliance manufacturers, and subsequently by his wife, Maud ('Molly') Crowe.  The collection includes promotional material from chiefly UK food and kitchen appliance manufacturers and World War Two pamphlets, and also includes collections of American recipes from the Culinary Arts Institute, Chicago, USA, 1942-1943, 'A cook's tour of the Soviet Union', produced by Russia Today magazine, 1944, and '100 Jamaica recipes', published by the Gleaner Company Ltd, Kingston, Jamaica, 1946.

Born, Toronto, Canada, 1891; served as Lieutenant, Canadian Army Service Corps, Western Front, World War One; agent for British Canadian Export Company, Ltd, London, 1921; founded Easiwork, 1922, importing kitchen cabinets and labour saving domestic equipment from Canada; wrote articles on household appliances for the Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1928; supplied pressure cookers and kitchen fittings to Women's Voluntary Service (WVS) mobile canteens, London, World War Two; died, London, 1955.

Placed in the Archives, 2014, by Mrs Georgina Willey (daughter), a former student at King's College of Household and Social Science.
