Letter to Robertson from Gen Sir Herbert Charles Onslow Plumer, General Officer Commanding, British Forces in Italy, giving the reasons for the taking over of the front line in Italy by British troops, namely the poor morale and exhaustion of the Italian units, and for his request for further divisions to be sent; Plumer's opinion that the British divisions in Italy should be kept up to strength, as the stay will only be of 6 months duration, and that the Western Front should remain the main theatre of operations. 5pp.
