Born in 1919; commissioned into Royal Scots Greys, 1941; served in Middle East, 1941-1943, Italy, 1943-1944, and North West Europe, 1944-1945, and after the war in Germany, Libya, Egypt, Jordan and UK; Adjutant, 1945-1946; Commanding Officer, 1959-1962; retired, 1962; awarded the L├ęgion d'honneur in 2015.
