Biographical history

Rhodes was born in Sheffield on 2 May 1922. He was educated at King Edward VII School; Clare College Cambridge, and St Thomas's Hospital Medical School, qualifying in1946. He attained MA, MB, BChir Cantab, FRCS Eng, MRCOG, late Major RAMS. Rhodes career included positions as Consultant Obstetric Physician 1958-1964; Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the University of London at St Thomas's, 1964-1974; Dean of St Thomas's Hospital Medical School, 1968-1974; Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Adelaide, 1975-1977; Postgraduate Dean of Medicine, University of Newcastle on Tyne, 1977-1980; Post Graduate Dean of Medicine and Professor of Postgraduate medical Education, University of Southampton, 1980-1987. He died 12 Jul 2002. Publications: Fluid Balance in Obstetrics.
