Manuscript diary describing Adam's service in World War One with Royal Artillery in France and Italy. From April 1916, describes action around Amiens, France. Returns to Britain on 3 Sep 1916 after catching a fever. Returns toWestern Front May 1917 at Vimy Ridge. Stationed to Italian-Austrian Front, Nov 1917, at Clerganzi, near Vicenza, Italy, to defend the Caporetto offensive. Attack on Tomba, Austria-Hungary, 31 Dec, 1917, 1460 prisoners taken.

Lecture notes, 1936, on readiness for war

Typescript lecture notes by Adam for Staff College, Camberley, Surrey, entitled, 'The Role of the British Army', concentrating on Imperial defence, stressing the importance for good sea communications to ensure the defence of overseas ports, and also the necessary strength of overseas garrisons in India the Far East and Egypt. Also details on the possibility of war in Europe and recommending that direct military assistance from a British Field Force, should be given to attacked countries in the event of war.
