Legal briefings, drafts and summaries, correspondence and newspaper clippings relating to libel cases involving British newspaper the Jewish Chronicle, 1968-1970, Israeli newspaper Ma'ariv, 1975-1979 and one involving a writ against Mayhew presented by law student Warren Bergson of Salford, Lancashire, 1974-1976. Papers relating to the Jewish Chronicle case refer to accusations by Labour MP Maurice Edelman that Mayhew had allegedly made anti-Semitic comments during a television programme entitled 'Your Witness', 15 Jun 1968. Papers relating to the Ma'ariv case refer to a libel action brought on by Mayhew and Guardian newspaper reporter Michael Adams against Ma'ariv, in which they claim that the newspaper published an article alleging that their joint-authored book, Publish it Not (Longman, London, 1975), was anti-Semitic, Aug 1975-Aug 1990. 1 file.
